Pro-Paws is dedicated to helping people with dogs who have behavioral issues or who want to have a better trained dog and
therefore a better family member. Please see the services page for more information.
The brains behind Pro-Paws is Katrina (Kat) Nicholl-Basye. Kat graduated from the Queens University of Belfast with a BSC. Honors in Zoology,
specializing in Canine Behavior and now trains in the DFW Metroplex area.
Kat has had vast experience working with dogs and training dogs for pet and competitive Obedience and Agility. For over a decade, Kat has been
conducting training classes in the United Kingdom and in the Netherlands and has taught hundreds of owners and dogs to become better partners and
better family members with great success. Kat has taught a variety of classes from puppy classes to competitive Obedience and Agility classes in addition
to teaching the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme at all levels, which is similar to the AKC Canine Good Citizen Scheme. This scheme is targeted at pet
dog owners to encourage them to train their pampered pooch to become a better canine citizen in the community. A well trained dog makes a better citizen!

Kat is also a well known name in the competitive world of dogs as she has been competing for over a decade in Obedience, Agility and Show-Handling classes.
With her first Border Collie, ("Megan Pride of Plandail O.W, A.W"), she solely trained Meg from an eight week old puppy right up to the dizzying heights of
Championship Obedience and Championship Agility, which is the highest level that a dog can compete at. Kat has been a member of the Northern Ireland Agility
and Northern Ireland Obedience team several times in addition to solely representing Northern Ireland at the worlds biggest dog show, Crufts. With her first
dog, "Meg" she accumulated countless trophies and rosettes and perhaps some of her most noted moments were winning the Northern Ireland Agility dog of the year
trophy, achieving the bronze medal in the Obedience world championships and winning the Senior agility dog competition at Crufts.

Her current dog is a three year old female Border Collie called Kes (Run the Risk at Tudor Rose JS-N). Kat has been lightly showing Kes in agility competitions
in Texas and the pair have already gained their Novice Jumpers title in addition to accumulating many ribbons.
Kat works as a Veterinary Nurse at a busy animal hospital in Fort Worth in addition to operating Pro-Paws. She lives in Azle with her husband Shannon, their
Border Collie, Kes and their kitten Ashley.
Kat is looking forward to meeting you and your pet and helping you move forward to making your dog a better canine companion.
